In professional planner, user interfaces can be customized and you can export them to make them available to other users. The following steps are necessary:

Customizing the user interface[edit]

  • Open professional planner using the desired interface.
  • Customize your interface to fit your requirements and then close professional planner. Closing the application ensures that all modifications are saved.

A detailed description of how to customize user interfaces can be found in the article Customizing User Interfaces.

Exporting the user interface[edit]

  • Open professional planner using the customized interface. Make sure that the user interface is not imported again. This would overrule your modifications.
  • Close all documents in professional planner and start the user interface export via the Export User Interface manager, which can be found in the Administration folder of the document tree.
  • Assign a name and save the interface by clicking OK.
  • The exported user interface can be found in the professional planner directory on the same level as the data or document directory (see Program and Data Directories). The file has the following syntax NAME.rgpx.

Opening the user interface[edit]

  • Windows XP & Vista
    • Open the Explorer and go to the following directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\prevero\professional planner 8\User Interfaces.
    • Make a copy of one of the existing entries in the start menu and assign a new name.
  • Windows 7
    • Open the start menu and go to the entry All programs > prevero > professional planner 8 > User Interface
    • Copy the interface App User, insert it and assign a new name.

  • Select Properties from the shortcut menu of the new entry and switch to the register tab Shortcut. In the "Target" field, change the name of the *.rgpx file to the name of your customized interface file.

Adjusting interface start

  • Now you can start your own interface via Start - Programs - prevero - professional planner 8 - User Interface. More detailed information on starting user interfaces can be found in the article Example:Opening a user interface.
  • For every new profile you must define which documents can be accessed. To do so, go to the Documents folder in the professional planner default directory and create a folder with the same name as the new profile. For example: If the profile's name is Sales employees.rgpx, the folder's name must be Sales employees too. In this folder you can store documents on which users should have access when working with this profile. This profile-specific document directory can then be integrated into the document tree via the shortcut menu entry Organize directories....
  • Moreover, you must create a new session structure including the respective datasets for every new profile.

1. Open Professional Planner from the Start menu Winterheller - Professional Planner 2008 - Professional Planner 2008. It is essential not to start a defined user interface before the export (e.g. from the folder Professional Planner 2008 - User Interface), as all modifications would be lost.

2. In Professional Planner, open the document UserInterfaceExport.ptb from the folder Toolbox in the document tree. In the document, select the options you want to save in the exported interface.

3. Assign the name test.rgp and save the interface file in the main directory of the Professional Planner installation (e.g. C:\Program Files\Winterheller\Professional Planner).

4. Open the Explorer and go to the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Program Files\Winterheller\Professional Planner\User Interface.
