The Design tab enables you to insert objects and charts, define document and page settings, display document bars, enable the edit view and specify default formats for the document. This tab is only available in open workbooks.

Edit View

  • Show (Ctrl+F7, F6): Switches between edit view and normal view. In the edit view, it is possible to edit database references.
  • Show Editor: Displays the database reference editor. Database references connect the worksheets to the datasets.


Format

  • Default Font: Specifies the default font, size and font style.
  • Background Color: Specifies the background color of the workbook.
  • Color Palette: Enables you to edit, import and export the color palette.


Insert

  • Names: Opens the Names Manager to edit names used in the document. Using names makes it easier to integrate cells and cell ranges into formulas.
  • Chart: Inserts a chart and opens the chart designer to define the most important chart settings.


Objects

  • Button: Inserts a button that can be used to start a macro.
  • Check Box: Inserts a check box.
  • Drop-Down Field: Inserts a drop-down field.
  • Line: Inserts a line.
  • Rectangle: Inserts a rectangle.
  • Arc: Inserts an arc.
  • Oval: Inserts an oval.
  • Polygon: Inserts a polygon.
  • Meta File: Opens the file selection to insert a wmf file.


Toolbars

  • Document Bar 1: Displays Document Bar 1. In document bars you can insert buttons used for starting macros or opening documents. To do so, right-click on the active document bar and select Edit.... In the dialog that appears, you can position buttons in the bar via drag&drop. When the Edit dialog is open and you right-click the button you inserted, further settings options are available.
  • Document Bar 2: Displays Document Bar 2. In document bars you can insert buttons used for starting macros or opening documents. To do so, right-click on the active document bar and select Edit.... In the dialog that appears, you can position buttons in the bar via drag&drop. When the Edit dialog is open and you right-click the button you inserted, further settings options are available.


Settings


Page

  • Print Area: Defines a specific area of the sheet for printing.
  • Print Title: Defines the cell range to be repeated on each printed page.

By clicking the Erweitert.gif symbol, the Page Setup dialog is opened.
