  • Edit view: Here you can switch between the normal and the edit view. Certain functions, such as deleting or inserting worksheets or defining cell protection, are available in the edit view only. Database references are also edited in the edit view.
  • Toggle database reference dialog box: This command opens a dialog window where the database references can be inserted into the active document and edited. Database references connect the worksheets to the datasets. This command is available only in the edit mode. Unlike the command in the Insert menu or the shortcut menu of the document (right mouse button), the editing field remains open when activating this command. Thus, the editing of field references is accelerated.

  • Italic: Displays the selected text or the text properties of a cell area in italics.

  • Format painter: Copies the format properties of the selected cell area to another cell area.
  • Toggle formula bar: Shows or hides the input bar of the document. The input bar shows the formula in the selected cell, if there is one, as well as the address of the selected cell in the spreadsheet format (e.g. A3 for the first column, third row).
